I remembered this performance. I don't know why, but when I was watching it, something told me that this was going to be the last performance of the BTW era. Call it a hunch. And it turned out I was right.

It was lackluster. I haven't the slightest idea why she performed heavy metal lover. Yet another record label mistake? It's not really a song meant to be "sung" live anyway.

It was planned as a future single before the Christmas freeze made MTN bomb, that's why.

I was so drunk and the only gay person in the room so I was obviously the happiest watching it all go down so I couldn't even process it being the last performance. I think we all knew MTN would be the last single but her performing Heavy Metal Lover gave me a tiny bit of hope for a 6th single.

Source? Is there anything official saying that was meant to be the next single?

The choice of songs still bugs me. I know BTW is a very special song for her, but TEOG would've been a better way to close her set. And HML is not an album track to perform live at events like that.

Well everyone assumed BM to be the single last Halloween So, there truly wasn't a point in performing hml. Should have just focused on promoting the current single that was flopping harshly at that point.

I didn't even remember she performed on New Year's Eve

She did perform it though? We were lucky we got three songs, nothing wrong with that. If anything, BTW shouldn't have been performed because she cut the best part of MTN out for absolutely no reason.

I had a meltdown with this performance..

She ruined HML with that horrible tone, and she didn't scream "naaaaaayiight" at the end of MTN..

Gaga wanted HML to be the next single, Interscope said no and ended the era. I don't blame them.

I remember watching this and thinking that HML would be the next single. Amazon also said it was the next single, I was so happy. But then Interscope confirmed that MTN was the final single.

Same. Also I noticed how she wore the high ponytail, just like she did in the performance that started the BTW era. It was closure for the era, and I'm sure that everyone knew that MTN was a lost cause. It barely even jumped on iTunes after the performance. Shame.

The HML segment was a mess, and I hated her ball outfit or w/e the **** that **** was. But it was a decent performance all around.

Nope. She had four singles planned and hml was not one of them.
