Alright....my full take on PF:RR. The album in general is lackluster; it's not her best work and this is obvious. We all know she said it was fun, but still, you can have fun, and still deliver quality material. That's one of the albums issues: It lacks in the quality department, some songs are straight filler and can easily be removed, and it lacks cohesion. The seperation from the Hip-Hop into the Pop was not a good idea and not very well executed; if that was the case, it should've been a double-disc. Another issue is the lack of Roman, who was supposed to be the main focus, but decided to return to boarding school after the first track "Roman Holiday" which shows Minaj at her best. The Hip-Hop tracks lack substance and meaning, and are usually about her accomplishments and conquering other bitches. With the exception of Champion, Right By My Side, and the very forgettable Sex In the Lounge, the other hip-hop tracks are nothing but bragging rights, and while it's nice, can we have a little bit more substance Onika? However, the Hip-Hop side is still very enjoyable and shows her doing what she does best: rapping.
The next half of the album is where **** gets complicated, as we are thrown into pop territory. I enjoy Nicki's pop music and don't mind her making it, but songs like this could've been left off and shouldn't of been made. Forget the sales and chart success; I'm talking about quality. If you think Starships, Pound The Alarm, and Automatic represents her character, then you need to leave and study a bit more. It's basically filler on this side; you have four Dr.Luke productions on the pop side, and only one of those actually showcase something promising. The rest are generic fillers and could've been easily done by someone else and wouldn't be missed IMO. This portion of the album isn't very impressive, could've been cut down (as could the hip-hop side) and not very good. However, there are a few gems on here.
In total...it was a disappointing effort. What makes it worse was that it was the sophomore. I don't mind the pop; but I hate generic pointless pop, which is what some of these songs are. The original concept was completely abandoned to appeal to more mainstream, and was misleading, as were thinking Roman would be the main focus, when he rarely shows up. It's forgettable to say the least and doesn't have much replay value. It's basically an all-around album with different genres. It could've been executed much better than it was. It was let down being honest.
This wasn't even the whole review. I cut it down and made it shorter. I had more to say.
Unless...you want me to give my full on thoughts and potential on this? Then that would be...very interesting.

Same.
It's probably one of my all time favorite Nicki verses. Mercy was good tho. They should have released Mercy first.

The thing is, none of them go to her base thread because they don't like her, yet we find them talking about her on several occasions in here
I'm not trying to patronize anyone, I just want to remind all of you again how hypocritical it is to tear down another female rapper only because others like pitting her up against Nicki. Take into consideration how many times yall would fight against that kind of behavior with other stanbases in the past.
