not really, something i predicted was that i know she's gonna be big on Europe and her album sales will be good but her singles will underperform/flop.
Given the amount of vitriol and hate she has faced, I am amazed at the success she has had. In fact Jimmy Iovine of Interscope has said that he had not heard someone with a voice as striking as Lana's since Stevie Nicks, and was therefore completely blindsided by the hate that was unleashed on her. I guess in order to allow the hate to dissipate they decided not to publicize or push BTD in the US (no radio play, no retail CD sales). This has meant that sales in US has been anemic and it will continue to be so until Interscope really starts pushing her. However this entire hate phenomenon was limited to US and therefore did not affect her international sales, which have been spectacular.
I just don't understand how someone with no single success or promotion can get an album that goes #1 in most countries. While others these days have monster singles but average album peaks. It's weird. She's flawless though, well deserved if we base it on Quality!
At first I didn't see why she got some hype, but now she's climbing up to be one of my most played artist. I'm surprised she isn't performing better in the US, more people need to hear about her. I got both my friends hooked on her.
