And just to comment on a few things,
1. FRU is by no means a confirmed 4th single, and a release date within the next few months is certainly out of the question since RMM is still gaining comfortably on all three formats; Alternative, CHR, and Hot AC.
2. As much as Branden Flowers likes to think the band is a Mainstream America rock outfit, it still stands that these guys are the best American band that should be British. Their music has never conformed to the sound of the top of the Alternative chart staples like Red Hot Chili Peppers or Linkin Park.
3. Sam’s Town has done relatively well in the US, and especially in Canada. Selling over a million copies with more to go is by no means a “small” feat in today’s market. And their international sales are even better.
4. A lot of people also underestimate how big of a hit “When You Were Young” actually was. Besides “Dani California”, it was probably the biggest rock song of 2006 across the globe.
I know that’s a lot of consideration to put into something simple – but to expect “mainstream” level of success for a band that has never been mainstream (despite their attempts to be considered as such), it just won’t happen.
I hope it still takes off.
