This year reminds me of 2010. A year where the #1 songs were just bland and forgettable, while the more memorable songs were from the underdogs. WFL and CMM are the only exceptions, as well as LMFAO and Taylor's song.

You're not SERIOUSLY asserting that Sexy and I Know It is better than Set Fire to the Rain or Somebody That I Used to Know, are you?

"Electra Heart" was the only "pop" album that I thoroughly enjoyed and, unfortunately, it may as well still be labeled indie because nobody stateside knows of it still.

yea 2012 might not have been that interesting but I think it had some good moments, just because some pop girls didn't release anything doesn't make it a bad year for music, it was ok.

...That is a gif from some CMM parody, right? I swear I've seen it before.

It's of french models. Only good that came out of that song.
Now I look like a hypocrite. Thanks.

WAY, STIUTK and CMM were all OFFICIALLY released in 2011.
Same as Stronger, SFTTR, SAIKI, WFL...
|
Well, I meant it didn't get big until summer. Thanks for taking me so literally.
Also, I never mentioned those other songs.

Well, he considers CMM the song of the year. So anything is possible.
But are you saying STIUTK was a good song?
You funny.

2012 is a great year in music but not mainstream's year. Well for ATRL's demographic it's certainly not the year for the iconic girls. You know mainstream is almost doomed when We Are Young & Somebody That I Used are one of the biggest hits & Born To Die is the 3rd best selling album of the year.
Did I just see Bridgit Mendler & Avril Lavigne in this thread?

Well Ke$ha could release her new single and blow us all away with it, so who knows? Personally I've enjoyed 2012 for music

Exactly what I came here to say. The 2012 trinity is bigger than anything from 2011 save RITD and PRA.

It's been a great year for music imo. At least dance-pop is not obliterating everything else..

What's so funny?
Cannibal has a higher Metascore than your fave's most recent album.

I just saw this.
And, aside from the things mentioned in my first post, Maroon 5 and Linkin Park's albums weren't half bad imo, although they didn't fare well with the critics. And Taylor Swift's album should slay effortlessly, just like the rest of her discography.
