Rihanna was compared to Beyonce when she came out. They even said Pon De Replay was to match the success of Baby Boy. She had the long brown weave, the style was a bit similar. Then she eventually found herself by the third album I guess. Cut the hair etc.

Let's set it straight.
Rihanna's debut was horrible, it didn't sell good but didn't flop either.
It was very forgettable and this is coming from a fan.
Rita's debut is generic and has some bad songs but overall it's a lot better than Riri's.
And I think we can all agree on the fact that it's gonna sell well.
Her hype is really big.

Now they both aren't really original, they both have writers, stylists etc.
So you shouldn't fight about that cause no one really wins.
This doesn't mean that Rihanna hasn't done great things.
Rita will get better, some of you seem to forget that this is just her first album.
She can't just put out a 'Rated R' or 'Loud' yet, give her time to grow.

Who knows, maybe she'll get bigger than Rihanna, maybe not.

i really think the way she is releasing singles is fine.. her team are going for MAXIMUM hits from this album, and if Shine Ya Light has potential why not release it, im sure it'll go number one for over a week atleast! her past two singles in the UK didnt fail, so i dont think this will either. She is doing pretty well over here in australia, How We Do reached top ten, and R.I.P has just been sent to radio and they've been playing the crap out of it! all they need to do, is up there game with the US promo get radioactive or roc the life out in that market ASAP!

i don't think she is US material, also because she is white singing black music... she should try to appeal to Katy's fans in the US, and she tried with how we do but failed

maybe it doesn't sounds like Beyoncé but she has been bashed for a long time with it, so bashing Rita with Rihanna things is just as bad. Nobody is original these days and Rita made an album full with catchy poptunes. Rita is just on her debut, it also took Rihanna 2 albums before she finally found who she was and what she wanted. Rita is also just beginning and you are setting the bar already high, while I bet you also would have been defending Rihanna in 2005, if someone would have bashed her with similarities with other artists. Rihanna and Rita are 2 different personality's, you are just blinded with a certain ignorance or hate, I get that not everybody can like Rita but to jump in Rita related threads just to write negative stuff is not needed tbh.
