ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
Case:2006 World Series Champions
This was a team many wrote off, but when they trounced the Tigers 4-1, people started to realize how talented they were.

Going into the 2007 season, the Cardinals have won 10 World Series titles. Led by WS MVP David Eckstein and ace Albert Pujols, the Cardinals will try to do something no NL team has done in a long time, win back-to-back World Series titles. Of course if they're gonna win another title, they have to get past their biggest rival in the Chicago Cubs who they've been playing a lot against for 121 years, along with the Houston Astros who will probably be in the hunt too.
2006 RECORD:83-78 (BUT, they won the NL Central, NL Champions, World Series Champions)
2007 ROSTER GRADE:B - I'm giving them a B for the simple fact that they struggled down the stretch and I'm expecting a lot from this team. They have a solid roster, but if they just work on their pitching, they will go deep.
PREDICTION:95-67 (NL Central champions) - They will win the NL Central again, but will be eliminated in the NL Championship
FANTASY PICK:Albert Pujols will probably lead the team in HRs with 45, let's hope he doesn't whine about not winning the NL MVP.

DETROIT TIGERS
Case:2006 World Series Runner-Up
Of course with a World Series winner, there's always a loser. The Tigers will try to rebound after getting slammed in the World Series 4-1.

Going into the 2007 season, the Detroit Tigers have won 4 World Series titles and their career record is 8324-8106. They were futility several years ago but after an amazing start, people started to realize that the Tigers were no longer a flaky team. The 2005 WS Champions in Chicago White Sox, the AL Central champs in Minnesota Twins and everybody's fan favorite Cleveland Indians will provide a challenge though.
2006 RECORD:95-67 (AL Wildcard, AL Champions, World Series runner-up)
2007 ROSTER GRADE:A- - They will take the next step led by Jim Leyland and their solid staff. All they really gotta do is not think last year was a fluke.
PREDICTION:92-70 - With the Red Sox acquiring Daisuke Matzusaka and the Yankees reacquiring Andy Pettite and Roger Clemens still not sure of his future, don't be surprised if the Tigers miss the playoffs. I think they will win the AL Central, but will be gone first round probably.
FANTASY PICK:Kenny Rogers - He is still being questioned for that supposed substance on his picthing arm during Game 2 of the World Series. I look for him to win at least 15-18 games this year and have an ERA of around 3.20.
Thoughts? Tomorrow I will do the Oakland A's and New York Mets.
