She didn't purposely test them. She said it would be a test, but it's not what she set out to do. She knew it'd be a test because she knew the album was miles different from TF and TFM. This is Lady Gaga we're talking about. One of the only pop artists who goes ABOVE AND BEYOND anything to make her fans happy. It wasn't a malicious test. I'm reading the responses and as always things are being taken out of context. Damn, reading comprehension, people!

I wouldn't say I "survived" or "passed" the test, but I'm still here and happy.

I don't think she meant to flop. She knows she's not making the most cookie-cutter pop songs on this album and the songs is very different to what radio is playing/ what the trend of music is going at that point. So maybe, it was a test of how fans will react to her artistic interpretation in her music that the fans are not used to. Let's be real the sound of BTW is very different compared to TFM/TF. Therefore, she's testing us if we could still stick by her if she happens to change her style of music and stay stanning even though we're getting music that we're not used to with Gaga.

She said she was influenced by Whitney Houston while making "Born This Way" so I would question the validity of that statement.

I don't think she's trying to make it seem like she planned the "underperformance" of the record, she said it con LM.com that interscope didn't let her choose the singles.

I truly believe that she wanted to please everyone, and help the "unfranchised"

Love the album, don't like the way she put it

I'm not talking about the song itself, i'm talking about the album as a whole. You don't only have to be influenced by one singer or songwriter. It's also obvious that she was inspired by Madonna too, and by many of singers/groups of her past. That's not what i'm saying, all i'm saying is that she knew that this album wasn't all what it was cut up to be. It's still her album though, so of course she's going to make it sound like it's her best. That's just apart of growing as an artist.

Do you guys skip school to post on ATRL, 'cause some of you do not know how to comprehend the English language. She has NEVER said anything negative to the fans who reacted badly to BTW. I agree with this, I think it's quite arrogant of her. Hopefully ARTPOP will be a better era and I'll start to like her more.

She doesnt need to say it. Its clear many people think btw underpermored. Atrpop is going to be an Uptempo album full of fame/dance tracks. Its what all artist do after a meh era.
