She has me so confused tho.
The fashion has been a mix of cheerful and light(prev) and dark(now).
And the music for ARTPOP, I don't think she ever said "fun" (did she? I forget), but lacking maturity compared to BTW.
When I hear that I think of Monster, SHICD, Teeth, etc on TFM. So maybe she could do dark in that lane or a mix of dark and light.
Iunno, but she's very good at keeping us guessing and interested.
