Generic means to be indistinguishable from it's peers.
The vast majority of Gaga's music stood out at the time of release for one reason or another. There weren't many songs like Just Dance and Poker Face in US top 40 at the time, there certainly weren't songs that sounded like Bad Romance in late 2009, nor were there songs about LGBT or Judas and general 80's throwbacks like The Edge of Glory and Marry The Night in 2011.
This is a good point, her songs often involve some type of syllable playing like Rah Rah Rah Ah Ah and Ju DA ju Da AA and Pa pa pa poker face pa pa poker face, yet monsters say her music is 'artistic'
