No I don't distance myself there is a lot of great music today it just doesn't make it into the mainstream market(aside from exceptions like Adele or Lana or P!nk)
People just focus too much on the Justin Bieber's and the Katy Perry's
However the average quality was definitly better back then

There is great music but that's the problem it DOESN'T make it to mainstream. Back then every genre was dominating and would go to #1. Now everything is just pop/dance now. And quality has gone downhill which makes people wonder what happened to the music industry which is sad.
