I guess that's why when we have those threads about EDM people get confused and say that it's been around since 08. When in actuality that's dance pop and not really electro pop. And even Electro pop is bordering lightly around the edges. Electro-pop = Dr.Luke/RedOne right now. They kind of try to infuse it so that it stays pop while adding that extra electronic sound.

Mine is honestly the "I've been waiting too long for you to get naughty" bridge in "Big Girl Now". It's just amazing

I wouldn't say they've merged, but I would say that dance pop has faded and become less relevant. EDM is beginning to take over and is the music of the future. I've watched many underground and unknown DJs rise and become popular in weeks. It's really interesting to see.

It's probably going to be a bit more like a really really expensive Mercedes - gets the job done damn well but countless people will still find room to whine.

It really is! I wonder if certain producers/DJ's will start to work with mainstream artist that they claimed they wouldn't.

I certainly don't see deadmau5 doing it. He hasn't even done any remixes of pop music. The most popular artists he's ever worked with were The Foo Fighters.

The guys producing the music are brilliant at what they do, and that skill is being paired with a woman who can write insanely catchy hooks and formulate well crafted pop songs. I imagine it's going to sound much fresher and crisper than we're used to, more DJWS than Fernando or RedOne - both of which can be quite heavy handed producers.

I mean, listen to RedOne/DJWS/Fernando stuff pre-Gaga, and then post...you see a massive difference in quality. Now, considering how much better the Madeon/ZEDD stuff is pre-Gaga, you can only imagine how good it'll be once she pulls their best out of them.

2013 will be a very exciting year for EDM. So many more people are aware of it as a genre right now and it will be interesting to see how it furthers it's impact into mainstream. One fear I have is EDM being considered "pop" because it really is a genre of its own. We will see if lady gaga actually takes the next step
