Certifications are based on shipments of the album, not sales. So she's had 62M albums shipped, but only about 54M of those have been sold.

Her 90s reign was unmatched on a statistical level. Nobody has dominated like that, ever. And before people come in saying The Beatles, I believe they sold a huge portion of their albums later on due to sales being weak in the 60s.

She does. These are SoundScan's numbers, not RIAA's.

that's actually not true.

Music Clubs are not counted by soundscan and Mariah sold alot through them.

Music Box might have only sold 7,250,000 through soundscan, but it's not like 3 million copies are left on shelves. The album must have been so huge on BMG and Columbia House that the label produced 10 million copies and sold them to retail and those music clubs.

Mariah's debut album sold 4 million copies before soundscan started tracking (it was 4x platinum at the time) so at least 8,8 million copies have been sold in the US factoring in soundscan (1991-today) and RIAA certification between (1990-1991).

I added this information to the OP. Thanks. I thought they were only excluding her first album sales.

Her total sales are legendary! And she's only 42.
