HAHA! Yeah. Talkeetna is right outside of Wasilla and doesn't really need a mayor. Because everything is so spread out up there, politics and jurisdictions, etc is completely different than in the rest of the states. You have city/town mayors, and borough mayors. They don't have counties in Alaska. They have boroughs. Talkeetna is in the Matanuska-Susitna borough, (or Mat-Su borough). Wasilla is the biggest town in the Mat-Su. So, I'm sure the borough mayor takes care of everything that tiny town needs anyways.
Also, the mayor of the "cities" only control whats inside city limits. I grew up in Wasilla, and we lived outside of city limits. So even though growing up, Sarah Palin was our mayor, she didn't control what went out in our part of town, the borough mayor did. Talkeetna having their own mayor would be a waste of money for that town.
