Although in the other case I probably would have just closed it, because we already had numerous threads about what the ARTPOP era will be like, and we already had a thread about her new hair.

It would be different if it was posted as NEWS.


If it's an actual pure discussion such as Twai's , I see no problem with it. It's something different than people posted annoying generic threads such as " how many sells will gaga's next albums have " etc,

Right under the screencap I had questions about what she said, inviting people to share their theories, and I had a bit at the bottom about how this wasn't just reporting a LM.com update. Or was the size 1 font too small for you to read? C'mon.

I'm personally not bothered by any thread, if I'm not interested in the content, then I just don't enter and much less obnoxiously complain about all the *insert artist here* threads that are opened, but these are the rules and we must follow suit. And not everything that Gaga shares on LM.com deserves a thread, if it's just random Gaga chat about her hair, that either goes on LM.com's or the brunette thread.

And if the "Will Lady Gaga's career last?" threads are left open, that's just the mods allowing some people to let go off their personal insecurities by obsessing for Gaga's career even though they don't stan for her.

Honestly there doesn't go that much thought and research into these decisions. I see the report, it says it's an LM.com discussion and should be merged. I look at the OP, see an LM.com screenshot, look at who posted the thread, notice it's someone notorious for posting way too many Gaga threads, so I merge it with the LM.com thread, and I move on to the next report. Unfortunately there were too many reports waiting for me to read the size 1 font at the bottom.

It's just frustrating to see the umpteenth "Why was Born This Way the worst album era of all time from anyone ever" thread get left open, when I'm trying to have a legitimate, intellectual discussion about my fave's career and I'm told that's not allowed simply because of how she relayed the information that sparked my thoughts.

There was a lot of discussion going on in that thread about the trope of the "blonde icon," where it came from, who falls under it, who and how has deconstructed it... That NEVER would have happened if I'd just posted the chat screenshot in the LM.com thread and left it at that.

And now we're getting to the crux of the matter. Admittedly shoddy moderating.

Honestly Kworb, I like you, but if you're going to go around tossing around warning points and making moderation decisions without even attempting to understand the context of what's going on? Yiiikes. You readily admit that you didn't even read the full OP before deciding and shutting down discussion based on your initial impression? Yiiiikes.



That's my problem with this whole thing. No one attempts to understand nuance or why some discussions of LM.com posts might possibly be worthwhile. You can't just apply a broad rule to an entire method of communicating with fans, unless you're wiling to apply that method to everyone else.

I'd love to hear another mod explain why they don't think anything posted to LM.com deserves its own discussion.

No because the decision was still correct. The thread was unnecessary. I'm just explaining why a little disclaimer at the bottom doesn't prevent these things from happening.

But let me get this straight.

1) You say I shouldn't have even mentioned LM.com in the post and that it was presented like a news update instead of a discussion.

2) I say I did much more than just mention LM.com, and even addressed the fact that people would think it was just a typical LM.com news post.

3) You admit you didn't even read the OP. So how would you know that it was presented like a typical, meaningless news update?

4) I say that's kind of awful that you'd paint things with such a broad brush and accuse me of doing something I didn't.

5) You don't address any of my above points and instead reiterate that no LM.com threads are worth it.

...Okay. This is productive.

Any other mods want to give it a shot? I'd like someone actually willing to engage with what I'm saying instead of just hitting me again with "Once you admit that the quote came from LM.com it's not worthy of discussion."

"No one cares about anything she says on LM.com" isn't valid. The thread had 30+ people viewing and then stopped DEAD when it was moved.

Can we have two main threads for every artist please?

- One for their Base.
- A second for everything they Tweet/LM.com.

I think that's fair. (I'll raise the case-in-point again about the 102231248 threads we get saying 'Rihanna looking Flawless!').

And in the same post I said
