To be honest ... I feel the "Jealousy" on people voting "NO" ...... LOL it was so obvious that before "Hold it against me" this music genre was not popular at all in the mainstream music.

With the help of the producers, Britney brought it mainstream, for sure.

It's just a fact that whatever Britney does, the lessors follow suit. Ever since "Hold It Against Me," there have been countless songs with dubstep influences in them.

And if the Ri stans want to argue about Rated R featuring dubstep before "HIAM", Britney had the dubstep influence on Blackout, so hush.

Skrillex was already becoming popular with Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites which was released in late 2010. Obviously he didn't have a number one single or anything but that was the first time I heard about dubstep or saw it being talked about a lot

No, and I think it is ridiculous to think a song with a break down that contains dubPOP is responsible for trending a genre that was already on the rise. Britney and producers were hoping on a trend, not the reverse. Dubstep was happening with or without Britney.

Yeah, sorry Britney loses this one. Skrillex was already gaining steam, and electronic music was creeping up right behind it with DeadMau5's success. Britney just jumped on it before everyone followed suit.

It would have happened with or without Britney. Plus, Rihanna has already implemented actual dubstep on Rated R, not the watered-down breakdown Luke came up with.

And to the person who said Blackout had dubstep. Where? Freakshow isn't dubstep.

That doesn't mean nobody noticed it. And with the internet, unknowns can spread quickly. Maybe the GP didn't know about Skrillex but the internet certainly did. I think he was helping dubstep gain popularity tbh then whoever produced HIAM jumped on it and there you go.

Gurl be honest ... Skrillex popularity exploded after and the sales increased after he got those grammy nominations , specially the one for Best new artist.

before that , he didn't have a recognizable hit single.

Prior to Hold It Against Me no pop songs had dubstep within them. After Hold It Against Me hit airwaves you had artists like Flo Rida, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Madonna and more jumping on the trend? Are you really saying all of that would have happened without Hold It Against Me proving the dubstep formula at least in some way successful and exposing dubstep to a larger market?
