I think the "Scheiße"/FAME trailer shows, in some ways, the return of the Gaga I knew when I first became a monster in early 2010. The imagery is dark, but not too strange or exotic, and there's no forced feeling to it at all. It feels exactly like the TFM era again, but all at once instead of in three parts. And I'm very glad for that!
It makes me wonder though - what could the BTW era have been like? "Government Hooker", "Heavy Metal Lover", and "Bloody Mary" (as a few examples) are strong tracks in a vein that seems to develop from the TFM era, but the era had been a very radical change for Gaga until the FAME campaign. From the music of three of the singles to the videos to the outfits, it all felt like a sudden shift to a completely different side of Gaga, whereas had she begun a post-TFM era with something like the FAME campaign (well, what we've seen of it) it would have been a totally logical evolution of her image.
