It's going to be harder in the future for album tracks to chart on the Hot 100, now that streaming is included. But Nicki and Taylor will probably still overtake eventually.

Madonna, Mary and Mariah are definitely at a disadvantage because during their peaks and most of their chart-runs, album tracks or singles that weren't physically released weren't allowed to chart. That's just a note.

Pretty much. You can't really put them all in the same category especially when Billboard now allows non-singles to chart on the Hot 100. Prior to 1998 or so, that wasn't possible.

I agree with alot of people that album tracks shouldn't be counted on the hot 100 but many of these "album" tracks from Taylor have had good enough longevity to go gold or platinum so in that respect I think those songs that sold that much should be allowed to stay but when the songs chart on billboard we can't see into the future to see if the song will sell enough to go gold or stop selling at the 200k mark. I think its just one of the things that the artists of today have as an advantage over the older artists but the older artists had advantages over the newer artists of today especially when it comes to album sales.

The real list would have Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick at #1, and #2.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are a lot of artists from the pre- digital era who managed to rack up more Hot 100 entries than anyone mentioned in the OP.

The only digital- era artists on the list are the Glee Cast (whose numbers are, admittedly, mind- blowing), Lil Wayne and Jay-Z. I mean, Elvis is #2 on the list, and he died decades before digital music was even a thing.
