And I never heard anything about crime rising... I actually just looked it up and the homicide rate has been dropping annually for the past three years.  Actually according to this article crime rate is actually decreasing.
Sorry, I ramble. The stampede is great though. I'm sad I missed it this year.

The air is clean when compared to most other places, but it has been getting worse. The air quality health index (explained here:
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/airqu...baq-002_e.html) reached 10 4 straight days in July.
Calgary Transit is the pits. It never comes on time. Its faster to walk to work (45 minutes) then it is to take transit (almost 90 minutes.)
I remember reading Calgary recorded a record-low number of homicides last year (and coincidentally Edmonton recorded a record-high in 2011.) Maybe it just feels like its getting worse. The NE (sans the far NE around the airport) has gone to **** over the years.
There is also almost nothing to do here, sans getting drunk.
Stampede this year was fantastic. It only rained on one day, and it was extra special as it was the 100th anniversary.
