Crash remains the better movie. Broke back mountain is long and boring and severely overrated. What made it a masterpiece? I mean the performances by the cast were good but the storyline was blah. I never saw the big issue with the movie, it was probably because of the big names that starred on it.

The only thing I remember is how messy the Academy Awards were the following year as if trying to avoid a full domination from the movie. Which was ironic considering many movies up for awards that night depicted LGTBQ issues.

Not someone thinking that cliche mess of racism is a better movie

There was absolutely nothing fresh, new, or original about Crash, that script was EMBARRASSING, and it's just an overall contrived mess.

Whatever, different strokes and all that stuff I guess.

It has a lot to do with it. Most people consider it a masterpiece because it's a homosexual love story. Homosexuality at the time of the release wasn't all that uncommon or taboo so people hyping it saying its groundbreaking blah blah blah. What qualifies is at as groundbreaking if anything it's safe. My point is if this story was about a man and woman no one would give two f**ks about it.

But broke back mountain was everything crash wasn't?

Well, the acting was OUTSTANDING to start with. Not to mention the cinematography, costume, make-up, feel, dialogues etc. There's more to a movie project than just the script/story.

I don't get the hype about Brokeback Mountain. it's overrated imo. I got bored and I'm gay.

if you want a tragic gay movie, Bangkok Love Story is far more superior than this.
