I feel Pink Friday was a good combination of Pop and Rap. It would of been perfect if she replaced Check it Out with another hard core hip hop song, and put Last Chance on the Deluxe and Catch Me on the Standard edition.

I don't care who hates her urban music. If she stops making it completely or makes another starships, we will have a problem.

1. Hip-hop music is generally only accepted by mainstream culture in moderation. There are very few truly hip-hop songs that crossover, and even the one you mentioned - N***** in Paris - wasn't a massive success compared to the rest of the Top 20. It did well for a hip-hop song, with crossover appeal especially with dance music fans, but it's a whimper compared to something like Whistle, speaking of which...
2. Nicki is always going to be seen as the female Flo Rida, albeit smarter and with more authorship over her sound and image. This has always been the case, since she started, and honestly, it is not a bad thing. ATRL demonises Flo Rida, but he is the most popular male dance-pop artist in the world right now, and should be respected for that like how Rihanna is. Nicki is perceived as a sort of "Flo Rida + Lady Gaga"-type. That's pretty cool to me.
3. Nicki isn't just a rapper anymore. She is now an accomplished singer. Believe it or not, there are many, many people who like her singing and sing-rapping, but detest her "hardcore" rapping.
I understand you feeling frustrated by it. If I was passionate about her "flows" and full-on rapping, it would feel like Nicki has somewhat abandoned all that (or relegated it to features and urban-only singles) to focus on her more appealing pop-rap style, but it's just something that needs to be accepted by her older fanbase in my opinion.

Still want her to be a permanent popstar DIVISION?

Nicki Minaj - "Pound the Alarm" - 66,029 (171,203). Gold towards the end of next month unless she can promo somewhere

I mean Beez In the Trap is one of her most prolific rap singles and it alone has more acclaim than Flo Rida's entire existence. I cannot and will not.

This is what I'm talking about. A good and perfect mixture of hip-hop and rap. Crossover...I love this Nicki. I love hardcore ratchet Nicki. I love pop Nicki. However....I don't like generic Nicki. That's all. But my opinion is always dumb and irrelevant and I'm such a fool all the time and delusional, I've just learned now to keep certain things to myself.

Pink Friday was perfect to me. Exactly the type of album that makes her glow as an artist.

The problem is fans like me don't want to accept her as a pop-rap act. If she should abandon any fan base, it should be her pop one, not the one that's been with her since the beginning. I wouldn't give two ****s if she said "**** y'all pop clowns" and paid them dust. In fact, I'd probably be happy and respect her for not being a complete ****ing sellout only in it for the money.
I mean, I like pop. But I like hip hop more. I wouldn't be here for a full on Popnika takeover, because that's not who I stanned for in the first place and it wouldn't be who I stanned for now.

But that's the question - will it really be a problem? I'm sure Cash Money Records have plans to eventually test this out.
An album with only pop and R&B tracks - sonically, I imagine it'd be like Cheryl Cole's current album. Singles-wise, it would be a success, and it would generate press and media attention, sell tour tickets and get endorsements. But album sales could potentially take a tumble.
Is it worth it? Or will a more focused era and sound lead to a better response from pop music buyers? Questions...

It was perfect. Rapping over pop-ish beats like 'fly' and 'im the best'. Her work ethic was crazy then, and I feel she's getting back in that zone. And i agree. I love all facets of Nicki, but this generic stuff is not her.

She REALLY needs to focus hard on the third LP. I want ONE sound and that sound needs to be Hip Hop. You can still get hits with Hip Hop songs. Moment 4 Life, Beez In the Trap (should have been pushed more), Right Thru Me, Your Love, Super Bass all can prove that. I don't want the RedOne sound, not from Nicki.
BUT, I don't want another Pink Friday. That album was good, but I wasn't blow away by anything besides RR. She's lost a lot of fans by going pop, and she's also gained some by doing it. But what fans are gonna buy albums? Which ones will show up to tours? Which genre will give her the respect she deserves?
Which genre is going to help her go down in history as one of the best rappers of all time?

Abandoning your core audience just to make a few $$$ is never a smart idea. It never is and it never will be.

But damn were pre PF era the days. So much fun anticipating what an album of just her would sound like.
