Which makes sense, Super Bass was Huge for a whole year. So they can't just leave those fans in the dust. So I think that's why Nicki said "ok hold up, let's mix it up" and pushed it back. This way, everyone is happy.

It would've of been better if she made more songs along the lines of Super Bass. Va Va Voom is an example of a crossover. It was the generic pop with silly and meaningless lyrics that turned many off; if she would've used the crossover formula for her pop songs, then there wouldn't really be much of an issue. Just my opinion...
