I had never heard this term before last night when my boyfriend and I were watching an up-and-coming rap artist's music videos on YouTube. I enjoy her music but he claimed it was "bubblegum rap." Now, I have heard of bubblegum pop but I had to look up this new term.
According to Urban Dictionary, a bubblegum rapper is: "A rapper that sings to please the mainstream, but not seen in the rap game as a true artist."
What do you think about bubblegum rappers? Do you care, do you think there are many in the game at the moment, and if so, who?
I don't care. I don't know why people bash on people who make "Bubblegum Rap" music. If you make good music that I can dance too then I don't have a problem with it. I don't have a problem with Nicki doing that because she making that money at the end of the day. People can bash Nicki all they want and called her a "sell-out" because at the end of the day she living her life making money while people is not doing nothing with their life but bashing her. I don't like Flo Rida like that but he been successful doing the "Bubblegum" music when it come to single.
well Nicki makes bubblegum rap but technically she is not since it said a bubblegum rapper is not seen in the rap game as a true artist, but she is soooo.
