But what I don't understand is, what do the radio stations (Clear Channel) get out of it? I'm probably completely wrong but I thought the concept of a radio deal was that the label offers the station something (maybe free tour tickets or w/e) to give out as prices for them to play the song. Don't know why I thought this is what happened.
I defended radio deals a few weeks ago in a thread about it (think it was something about Katy Perry) but now it kinda just seems like the label is just paying radio to play their song(s) (like a sort of 'legal payola').
