What is SOS?

SOS-Save Our Selves is designed to trigger a mass-scale movement to combat our climate crisis. Our climate crisis affects everyone, everywhere. That’s who SOS is aimed at. The magnitude of the climate crisis makes it so that only a global response can begin to address it. SOS asks all people to Save Our Selves because only we can. SOS is more than a distress call. The most important part is how people respond. As we move forward, SOS will not only issue the call, but will provide the solutions individuals, corporations, governments and the world can use in answering it.

SOS will reach people in every corner of the planet through television, film, radio, the Internet and through Live Earth, which will bring together more than 150 of the world’s top musicians for 24-hours of music from 7 concerts across all 7 continents. Live Earth alone will engage an audience of more than 2 billion people. That audience, and the proceeds from the concerts, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by Vice President Al Gore.

What is Live Earth?

Live Earth will bring together more than 150 of the world’s top musicians for 24-hours of music from 7 concerts across all 7 continents. Live Earth will bring together an audience of more than 2 billion at the concerts and through television, radio, film, and the Internet. That audience, and the proceeds from the event, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by Vice President Al Gore. Kevin Wall, Worldwide Executive Producer of Live 8, is producing Live Earth.

All Live Earth venues will be designed and constructed by a groundbreaking team of sustainability engineers and advisors directed by John Picard. This greening team will address the environmental and energy management concerns of each concert site, as well as the operations of sponsors, partners, and other Live Earth affiliates.

Each venue will not only be designed to maintain a minimum environmental impact, but will showcase the latest state-of-the-art energy efficiency, on-site power generation, and sustainable facilities management practices.

This is an issue that I'm pretty passionate about, and am hoping that this sort of movement sparks curiosity which can eventually lead to knowledge amongst a larger majority of the population.

Yep I've heard about this and am glad that it's being organised. I just hope that the governments actually listen and stick to the purpose of it unlike all the backtracking after Live 8. More people might also be interested in this because they can see the effects in front of them in contrast to people 'far away and out of sight' where many feel disconnected to the purpose (even though the amount of those 'far away' people is huge).

I think the site will also a webcast for the Live Earth performances.

I really think this is a great idea and like Pandora, I hope the government listens. Then again, if they thought that it was not important because it affected people "far away" then it is possible that they will think this is not important because it concerns the future more than the present or something.

anyway, great performers... I hope the concert will here be in São Paulo (the biggest city)... but they always choose Rio, we never know.
