International success = more strangers/foreigners invading their territories of power and control


I understand why they feel insecure to jump to it.

International success = improvement in the national economy they're always whining about. Korea has the right idea; tourism over the past few years has skyrocketed thanks to the Korean Wave. They use it to promote the country. That's how it should be done tbh.

Japan wants to have their cake and eat it to, building an entire culture by throwing their own influences in a blender with Western ones, but going out of their way to deny the Westerners that they're constantly borrowing from the same privilege.

What you don't?

I didn't mean Japan as a whole, but the small group of people in music industry that is tightly hugging this cake.

Tbh the only music I spend money on is Gaga's. She's worth it.

J-Pop and K-Pop [well, mostly K-Pop since it's less expensive and has AMAZING packaging] might change that for you

See, personally I own several hundred vinyl records [plenty of new ones] and about as many CDs [more Asian recently] so it's never been so weird for me. I guess it's just how I spend my money. I've never figured out exactly what it is that people who almost exclusively pirate are spending their money on.

Some pirate cuz they're broke, it's not available through normal means or they just don't want to support the artist.

I feel ya! To me it's so much more special when I can get a Korean or Japanese album in my hand physically. But that's just me, it's also why I buy Gaga's music physically, because i'm a huge fan.

It's weird really. It gets even more complicated when video games feature Japanese music and they usually end up taking off the vocals to the music and leave it on the game as an instrumental or get different underground bands to sing over them. I'm glad Gaga is open to the international realm of music.

The glittery paper head

Well, now I don't even know... I'm sure it was faked too, but that letter from Kesha to McDonald's was supposedly real and the formatting was the same.

Except the McDonalds one had the address formatted properly. A mistake like that on the Gaga one is a telltale sign of somebody who's probably never used actual mail.
