Not necessarily though. There have been dance songs infused with hip hop all over the radio now. It's just how it is. I don't see how it's a stretch or even really all that shocking actually. It may not be Superbass, but I could still see it being upbeat and somewhat dancey if you know what I mean.
The Kendrick song will not be pop, the two songs released from the album have been straight up hip-hop. Plus he isn't going to "sell out" for a hit and is still extremely new to the rap game so he definitely does not want to alienate any of his fans.
