Missy Elliott, Timbaland not involved in Aaliyah project

It feels like with every day that passes, new details pop-up regarding the upcoming Aaliyah posthumous album.
According to a rep for Missy Elliott, via press release, Missy and Timbaland "will not be participating" in the Drake and Noah "40" Shebib executive produced project of the late singer.
"Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate," Mona Scott-Young, longtime manager for Missy Elliott, says. "We've seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated."
Missy Elliott shared a few words on their longtime friend, "Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers."
The release which states Missy and Timbaland's decision to not participate in the album comes days after Blackground's Jomo Hankerson told Billboard.biz that Missy and Timbaland were to "definitely be involved."
And frankly, if Missy and Tim won't be involved, I'm not sure I'll be buying this record.

Aaliyahs had seemed to be distancing herself prior to her death from Tim and Missy. It's like T&M built a family and then rode their own waves of success and said to hell with Playa, Mocha, Nicole, Ginuwine & Magoo.
I for 1 don't need Missy or Timbaland on the album. Aaliyah's THIRD album was her best work and Timbaland and Missy had hardly ANYTHING to do with it.
this is such a ****ing mess. how can they actually allow there to be so much drama over a girl who isn't even with us anymore? the fact that this is all being negotiated in public is so disrespectful to aaliyahs memory; if the plans for a posthumous aaliyah album have been in the works for a while then they should have approached everyone beforehand to get everything straight

Even a few months ago I would never think that abscence of Tim and Missy in this project would be an issue. Especially judging from the amount of love The Red Album has.
While I agree that her third album was best and Tim and Missy had little involvement in it, I still wanted to see them work on this record. To be honest, the whole thing seems really badly planned and organized. Are the family even behind this project? I thought that Rashad said that the family will not be supporting it and then Drake says that they will be? Very confusing.
Either way, I will look forward to new Aaliyah music. Enough Said is brilliant.
