This hasn't been a kind year for Meryl's haters.
First came the Oscar that everyone was sure would go to Viola Davis:
But then there was a ray of hope for them. The trailer for her comedy "Hope Springs" was released and it looked like sh.it. They felt some relief.
However their smile quickly froze when the reviews started trickling in. Certified Fresh.

It couldn't be true, could it?
They still had one last remaining glimmer of hope. Surely a talky comedy/drama about old people's sex lives would flop. It had a weak start on Wednesday, but then kept building and topped $20M through Sunday.
