I thought her stans said that she doesn't need idol and that she would get a hit single without it?

The song was meant to be a standalone single though. Her album isn't supposed to be released until March. They wouldn't have released a single so early and not THAT at least. I think she just wanted some buzz and she wrote the song about Nick's illness.
