(I realize that not everyone talks like this on ATRL, but the terms are very common here.)
Shade, drag, read, tea, etc are all terms which, afaik, originate in 80s ball culture (Paris Is Burning). The terms then made their way into 'gay slang'. When I joined ATRL, despite having gay friends, I hadn't heard of these terms, yet now I see them often outside of ATRL and use a lot of them (online).
I'm noticing that they are making a 'comeback' in general (or maybe they never left), being used in songs (Nadia Oh's 'Shade') & people like Lady Gaga suddenly talking like drag queens.
What are your thoughts on these terms? Do you think they make conversations online funnier and more entertaining? Why are they so popular on ATRL? Idk I just think it's interesting...
