(I realize that not everyone talks like this on ATRL, but the terms are very common here.)

Shade, drag, read, tea, etc are all terms which, afaik, originate in 80s ball culture (Paris Is Burning). The terms then made their way into 'gay slang'. When I joined ATRL, despite having gay friends, I hadn't heard of these terms, yet now I see them often outside of ATRL and use a lot of them (online).

I'm noticing that they are making a 'comeback' in general (or maybe they never left), being used in songs (Nadia Oh's 'Shade') & people like Lady Gaga suddenly talking like drag queens.

What are your thoughts on these terms? Do you think they make conversations online funnier and more entertaining? Why are they so popular on ATRL? Idk I just think it's interesting...

But seriously, I like a few of the terms but the longer I'm a member, the less I've been using them. It seems comical more than anything, I can't make a serious post using that ratchet slang. It's when I'm clearly joking around that I use it (minus a few select words that aren't overly obnoxious like shade). But I love reading messy ass posts like that, cause they look like total dumbasses when they use ATRL slang in a meltdown.

I just noticed something in your gif in your avie and the one in the OP. Why is it that the girl doesn't move in the one in your avie (the background chick) but she doesn't stand behind the girl in the gif? They're obviously from the same video since the bitch dancing is doing the exact same stuff in both but the background is different (unless the bitch repeated herself).
