As a straight female. I was so disappointed he was gay. No offense but he will ruin the illusion of the character.

He's not the director.

He's not even writing the movie.

Its a movie not a ****o. Its not like he actually has to get it up on camera. I'm sure he will be in fine in the role.

Because him acting would be so foreign? I'm sorry but that's such an idiotic statement. Actors act. Leo DeCaprio has girlfriends, but that doesn't stop him from playing the role of a romantic lead in love with his leading lady. Just because he's gay doesn't prevent him from actually acting. Unfortunately opinions like yours and Bret's are why many actors either stay in the closet or never disclose their sexual orientation.

It's called acting for a reason.

No one ever goes so and so isn't someone from the x era so can't act the role properly, or tells straight actors they can't play gay, that's always seen as great acting. And only a few idiots ever challenge someone from a different region having to do an accent when it's done properly.

Brett Easton Ellis is under the impression that 50 Shades of Grey is some new era of human consciousness that needs the utmost care and precision, so he thinks that unless Christian Grey is performed by some super-hetero stud, the movie will suck and humanity will collapse in on itself

However, he doesn't realize that 50 Shades of Grey is ****ty pulp that no one will ever care about in 15 years. He's clouded by his own love for it. So his opinion doesn't matter. The end

I support gays as i am a Gaga fan but many woman think casting him as the lead will ruin the illusion of the character. You have to look at their perspective as well...

He obviously doesn't know what acting is. Many gay guys at my performance school play straight guys when they do a show. He sounds like a douche.

He wants to write for it, but a shortlist of potential writers was just leaked and he's not on it.

Again, "ruining the illusion" is a cop out excuse. Like I said...many leading men in relationships. It doesn't prevent them from doing their job. Where Bomer puts his penis at night is irrelevant. Any person (man or woman) who can't see that has issues.

This is the very reason Bomer never defined his sexuality. He's been gay since he was on Guiding Light. Everyone knew. No one talked about it because it wasn't an issue. His sexuality has NEVER affected his acting ability.

I agree with this. If I knew a gay actor would play as Christian Grey I would also be disappointed.
