We all know the general public isn't as educated about music as ATRLers are. A lot of people here know many artist discography and can name the song only by listening to it for a few seconds. This is just examples.

UGHHHHHHHH I remember in the UK (might have been worldwide) there was a rumour flying that Gaga was going to chop her entire leg off and then I was like.. You guys plzzz she is not stupid and they were like "she'll do anything for attention".. Does this count?
One of my friends asked me if I had heard Adele's 3rd album. Needless to say I was confused. Turns out the 3rd album were 21's bonus tracks (If It Hadn't Been For Love, I Found A Boy, etc.) and her cover of "Promise This"
Oh and my sister though Starships was a Ke$ha song and Domino was Katy's (as did a lot of people)
One of my class mates brought up the idea that Gaga lip synced during her AMA performance a few years ago with Bad Romance/Speechless and she said the proof was that when she smashed the beer bottle next to the microphone no one heard it. I thought that was an interesting view.
At my job people are always SO late with music. For example some guy was playing "too close" by alex clare on his phone the other morning. For me that was so 4 months ago he also was playing Calvin Harris "ready for the weekend" album like it just came out. That was 2009 son
