Even when I'm not saying Billboard committed a procedure outside the norm it's still mind-boggling that a song with that many downloads and good airplay didn't hit #1
A brand new song that has not been made available in streaming sites should not suffer from the flaws in their method.
In fact, I might begin to pursue the issue again. There are no reasonable percentages that could possibly place fun. ahead of Bieber, so either they don't use percentages at all or they cheated Bieber or there is some component that they don't talk about.

Whenever I don't use percentages, I feel I get more accurate results, so... idk but I prefer just doing solid whole points.

The problem is that they have mentioned many times the fact that they used ratios to weight sales, then airplay, then streaming. The only conceivable way for fun. to have topped Bieber is by weighting streaming higher than airplay.

I think they changed the formula 40% digital sales 30% airplay 30% streaming I saw on mediabase

They also have named a value called passive streaming which we don't receive data for. They said that on demand's value was double that of passive streaming.

Well, using the formula this thread proposes, that still isn't enough to change the positions.

He had NO streaming at ALL.
Hardly any airplay, Fun. had way more
I'm glad someone brought the "Boyfriend" thing up. Every week computes BUT that one.
How the Billboard points are tallied is correct. Airplay is 1 million AI = 1 Hot 100 point. Sales are 1k = 1 Hot 100 point. Streaming is 10k = 1 Hot 100 point. This is 100% true.
