Songs from true WW legends like Madonna, Michael, Whitney are with you since you are a baby. I heart I Will Always Love You since I was like 5-6 and still hear it. Janet never had that. She doesn't have a memorable WW hit.

I Don't give a crap if you don't know those songs, I'm younger then you and i knew them even before becoming a fan, and yes I DON'T live in america. All you have to do is look up their stats and you will see they are hits from around the world. Dead at Michael fans thinking he was the only Worldwide star of the Family

Sadly, yes. She has a small international following. Kind of ironic-you would think she would be the most global considering who her brother is. I mean Britney Spears has outsold her and Britney came out 2 decades later. That speaks volumes. Oh well, I still like Janet. She is a very accomplished and underrated popstar. Kind of like her more than Michael to be honest. Her music is more interesting to me
|
I'm not talking about Janet now. Of course her following is small now, I'm talking about Janet of the 80's and 90's. Her tours were huge, so to say her following was small then is ludicrous

When they wake up, since at this time they are sleeping, you know there's people that actually do other things than being on Atrl 24/7
The people in here are too much, Janet was the first Paula/Ciara/Britney ever to exist, she paved the way for many and her legacy is untouchable
It is annoying that we have to put up with threads full of people making statements as if they were fact only based on ignorance, people have to stop criticizing and trying to make someone less just for the fact they don't know anything about them
If people are going to post here, they should at least have the decency to look into the past before making themselves look dumb

I was living in Mexico when I was a kid and I was practically brought up with the Rhythm Nation album, and it was not only in my house, it was everywhere
So again, don't make statements if you don't know what your talking about
Edit: And the album was such a disastrous flop outside Canada and the US that the Rhythm Nation Tour had a huge successful leg in Asia
Edit 2: And if you like Britney you should not be coming for Janet's wig, I am sure Janet was a huge influence on Britney you can see it throughout all of Britney's career, so again: Don't.

As a person who actually listens to Janet often, I wouldn't call her local. Her videos are well known (Rhythm Nation anyone). She has had hit world wide. One of her albums has sold 20 million record world wide. She isn't local, she actually is more global than you think. Most of the people who call her local either are very young or have a vendetta against her.

I was talking about the single actually, which peaked at #2 in the US, #6 in Canada, and failed to chart in the top 10 elsewhere. The album flopped in Canada too.
One sold out date is nothing.

With the exception of 3 songs/performances at best, I don't see them.

I only knew 2 Janet songs before I came to ATRL and only because I stumbled across them when looking up the Billboard hot 100 #1s of the 2000's

It didn't Flop in Canada It had 2 #1's there from that album alone, and i hope you are not relying on dated certifications, you should know how under certified she is.
And the Rhythm Nation tour was the biggest debut tour by a solo artist. So it's more then 1 date.

Shipped 20 million, sold only 13.2. It's her bestselling album.
