His voice is amazing but Universal screwed him over after he won. They did zero promo. At the same time, I can't blame them for not knowing what to do with him though. The guy is crazy talented but he's not easily marketable tbh...

It seems like these shows are strictly for ratings, so what exactly are the record labels that sign up for these shows getting out of it? An artist they don't want to promote?

I don't understand the whole point. It's like a good majority of the winners get zero promo and aren't successful. The networks are the only ones benefitting unless the labels get a good chunk of that cash.
