On top of being bad singers...
The high school musical people are greedy too.
TMZ has learned that negotiations to return three of the four top stars in the sequel to The Disney Channel's smash original TV movie, "High School Musical" have hit a major snag.
If you don't have kids, or aren't currently using Clearasil, you probably don't know that 2006's original Disney Channel movie "High School Musical" reached 100 million viewers worldwide. Or that its soundtrack -- RIAA certified as quadruple platinum - was the number one album for all of 2006. Or that 6.5 million DVDs of "High School Musical" have been sold. And you definitely aren't aware of the sold-out 42 city concert tour that featured most of the principal cast, or that some 2,000 high schools will be licensing the production to perform locally with their own students. In other words, these aren't deals Disney wants to see go asunder.
However, the three key members of the sequel's cast -- Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Vanessa Anne Hudgens -- are in a major tussle with the Disney Channel over compensation in the sequel: Insiders say that while the cast is expected to fly to Utah on Sunday to begin rehearsals, Tisdale, Bleu and Hudgens may well be staying put until their deals can be revised for the better. The kids, clearly, want a piece of the soundtrack and the HSM 'merch,' which is ubiquitious these days.
Disney is notoriously aggressive in negotiations in the best of times, so it'll be interesting to see how the Channel's execs will react to kids who won't be pushed around on the playground. Reps for Hudgens, Bleu and Tisdale all declined comment, and referred all questions to Disney Channel; a spokeswoman for Disney Channel casting, Patti McTeague, would only say that "we have signed deals" with the cast, and rehearsals were expected to start on February 19.
In the meanwhile, Disney on Thursday announced it is also prepping a separate, theatrical feature based on "High School Musical" scheduled for release in 2008 called, "Haunted High School Musical."

i think it's only fair for them to ask for a raise since they havent stopped working since hsm debuted and all the money it had rolled in their company. and it's a well known fact that disney underpays their actors.

LMAO. It's not called greedy, it's called dumb if they didn't want a share of the millions being made off of them.

Isn't that why that Zach kid isn't doing the sequel? He wanted more money from the deal and Disney balked, so he quit and is now doing that Hairspray musical remake of the movie? Hence that Drew guy that did all Zach's singing coming into HSM2?
Of course, considering her singing career, Vanessa is in no position to negotiate. Ashley is expected to double V's sales, so she could. As for Corbin...I has no clue.

It doesn't matter if they're bad singers, they have the right to demand as much compensation as they want

Hmm, they are the faces in front of what could become one of Disney's most successful brands ever and they want to be paid a little more than the 3 Snickers bars and $500 scholarship they were mostly likely given last time. Not that I enjoy the franchise, but seriously, who are the greedy ones? Disney is scamming the allowances off of hundreds of thousands of eleven-year-olds and all the stars of the series are going to get are spots as commentators on Best Week Ever in five years.

Disney Channel is really greedy
This is like what happen to Hilary Duff and the Lizzie McGuire show.
Disney wanted to renew Lizzie McGuire as a new show titled "Lizzie In High School".
Since Lizzie McGuire had some of the highest ratings Disney channel had ever seen at that time Duff's mom demanded 5 million dollars for Hilary to do the show but Disney wouldnt.
Disney has mad money so giving Hilary 5 mil shouldnt have been a big deal since they would have made all that money back if there was a Lizzie In High School.
DISNEY IS JUST A BUNCH OF GREEDY BASTARDS.

Everything on Disney is horrible. Every artist, every song, every commercial, every show (with the exception of Boy Meets World which isn't a Disney show)

LMAO at this post. Just because Fugdale will sell almost double of Vanessa's 1st week, doesn't mean it'll sell more in the long run.
Oh & the HSM musical kids recorded the 1st soundtrack between 1 & 2 weeks. Everything else is clothes, books, etc which they didn't have to do anything for.

Alright Shade, I'm not singling you out, but seriously, this is the most stereotypical comment I've heard about the Disney Channel. Obviously you've seen every show at least once to assert that "Boy Meets World" (OVERRATED) is the best show. I'm not gonna say that I watch Disney Channel frequently enough, but I'm not gonna lie, for people under 15, it can be very entertaining.

Well, I only watch Disney when I'm really bored. That's So Raven is a good show, and that blonde twin ripoff of "Sister, Sister" with the two twin boys living in a hotel is alright.
As far as I know, Hilary and her mom were greedy. Disney was going to pay her $100,000 per episode for that "Lizzie McGuire in High School " show but her and her mom wanted $1 million for each episode. (LOL) Then for that second Lizzie McGuire movie that was planned to happen, Disney was going to give her $4 million when she and her mom wanted $10 million. Then they decided it wasnt going to work, so the deal collapsed and Hilary left Disney and Disney decided to make Raven they're new star, since "That's So Raven" was becoming a big hit. Little did Raven know, she'd be the next one to get f***ed over.
Raven was signed on to do these movies, "All American Girl" and "Sparkle". Both of them were to be released in 2004/2005, but they had s**** production crews. By the time Raven was ready to shoot the films, they had barely (if any) casts, production crews, anything, so both movies collapsed. She only did that sequel to the Princess Diaries movie. Now, she signed on to do the remake to "Adventures In Babysitting", but she told Disney that she wanted some $$$ whether they did the movie or not. Disney payed her $12 million (along with her $400 million fortune) and now they havent even started shooting yet and thst might never happen either. Disney is f***ed up. That "Hannah Montana" girl is next.

I think a lot of those figures are exaggerrated. The meaning in this post seems on point, but I doubt it is that extreme.
