So less than 24 hours since video release and it jumped 20 spots...
Where were those people saying the video release wouldn't drastically help surge the song up the itunes chart...I'll wait
I met Nicki when PF:RR came out, she was so sweet and tiny And while we were on line, MM came on and everyone was singing, and then all of a sudden she stood up and started singing with us! She signed both of my PF & RR CD's, although there were no pictures or coming even close to her allowed But it was cute, & worth standing on line, although 10 raggedy prissy bitches tried to cut and be with their friends ahead and I just was like AHA no
She's always the FIRST one on the songwriters list, and that's the order of which who writes the most, and that can't be changed or anything.
Willy, you're usually so smart. But damn... She's credited first on EVERY song. That's just how ALL hip-hop artists are credited. Check all of your albums lol. Plus popstars like Madonna, Katy Perry, Gaga, Ke$ha, they're all credited that way too, even if they write very little of a track.
Nicki's credit first for Turn Me On:
The above demo is from late 2010. Nicki really only wrote the rap, yet is credited first.

Billboard.biz: "Starships" marks the first time that you have worked with Nicki Minaj. How did that track come about?
Wayne Hector: Basically, it was something that I wrote with Carl [Falk], Rami Yacoub and RedOne in Sweden. We wrote it, originally with different verses, and were all jumping around thinking: 'This is going to be great.' And at some point Red said: 'You know what? This would be great for Nicki Minaj.' He played it to her and she went crazy for it but said: 'Can I just do my verse because it has to be me? And we all thought: 'Why not? We love her.' I'm always happy for an artist [to personalize a track]. Whatever is best for the song and the artist. Especially if you have somebody who has a clear-cut defined image of who they are. You can't really interfere with that and get the best out of them.
Trying to find Facebook posts from Bilal Hajji, but he basically confirmed Whip It and Pound The Alarm specifically - but generally all the RedOne tracks - were finished songs too, before Nicki came on-board and they changed the verses to her raps.
Nothing wrong with it, but the point is, Masquerade was half-written years ago. Nicki must have written the rap verses recently, but Max Martin and Dr Luke and whoever else wrote the chorus a while back. It shares the same production credits as an unreleased Kelly Clarkson song from 2008.

Actually, I know for a fact Masquerade went from Kelly Clarkson to Britney Spears to Nicki Minaj. I read it on the Facebook status of its co-producer lol.

I read this and it's all good. I'm happy Nicki still gets her cut from those writing credits.
