Facebook has announced a redesign to its photo layout for a user's timeline.
The new layout arranges all of a user's photos with larger thumbnail images to fill the entire screen with minimal dead space between pictures.
Users can also choose to highlight certain photos with a star icon, which will make those pictures appear larger in the main timeline display.
The new design should appear familiar to Google + users, as the layout bears a resemblance to the large photo arrays on Google's social network.
Facebook is slowly rolling out the timeline photo update to all users, a process which will take place over the coming weeks.
Last week, Facebook held its quarterly earnings report, which revealed large profits for the firm despite a loss on payments to shareholders.
Mark Zuckerberg also denied rumours of an imminent Facebook phone, saying that it "wouldn't make much sense" for the firm, despite recent reports of a partnership with HTC for a smartphone launch in 2013. (source)
