Girl does 'worst ever' USA National Anthem at an MLS game
Harper Gruzins, 11, from Texas, belted the Star-Spangled Banner before a Major League Soccer match Saturday night. But it didn't quite go as planned.
In fact, some websites are calling it the worst rendition -- ever.
Crowd reaction while Harper was singing, and the looks on the faces of players, indicated they weren't enjoying the version, many looking like they were in pain.
Harper's parents are defending their daughter telling Fox News the "mean and hateful comments are really sad."
The young girl admitted to the media outlet it wasn't her "best" performance because she couldn't hear herself sing. "The blowing horns got me off key. But God allowed this to happen so I know it's what He wants. I wouldn't change it."
Despite the voice of Harper sounding nothing like the angelic Whitney Houston, at least she got all the words right.
When she first started to sing, I didn't think she was THAT BAD. But once she started going for the high notes, then I could see why some people would be upset with her. I'm so happy that nobody had 'booed' her in the middle of the song. NOBODY DESERVES THAT. And I can assure you, I AM MOST LIKELY NOT A BETTER SINGER THAN HER, but I just wanted to share.
Say it's good or bad. I think people needed to chill on this girl. She's only eleven years old for christ's sake and the last thing she needs is an internet mockery of her performance.
