The song still works. Very well by the way.
It's just not her. It's Rihanna or Britney. It's not her; it's some terrible A&R guy's idea of her.
A song like All the Lovers - or even The One - that feels totally her, as if she wrote it herself.

As I'm listening to "Get Outta My Way" again, it strikes me that there's an elegance about that other pop girls couldn't pull off. It may be sort of lowbrow, but I think it still works for Kylie.
But that was not originally the plan. Fever was supposed to be Fever's second single, released in the winter of 2001/2002. Then Kylie had the "privileged" of having her own An Audience with Kylie TV special in the UK. She performed a few tracks off her then new album, including the title.
This one performances was so badly received that all talk of Fever being a full single was scrapped.
