Released as an afterthought, The One went top forty in the UK in mid 2008, long after the "buzz" of X had faded. The single version was remixed by Freemasons, which is a shame as the album version was long cited as THE highlight of that misbegotten album by everyone from Pitchfork to Popjustice. Should have been the second single.
