Artists were making dance music in 2007/2008 but Gaga's debut was so huge that she really pushed dance music into the mainstream IMO...

Vin...sit down and think about it. Before Gaga, all we really had was just Britney during Circus and Beyonce ruling the world (and Madonna the touring world) but once Gaga ruled with Just Dance, more and more artists like Katy, Rihanna, and even Ke$ha realized that you could take MORE risks in pop and get away with it. Although Madonna did do it before, she stopped way back in 2000 and she was the only one doing it. Gaga helped fuel the big explosion of pop, which consequently birthed albums like Animal, Loud, and even Femme Fatale

Not really, the one thing she's really known for (her "Crazy" outfits) have been done by almost every artist already

I agree that those who "imitate" or are "influenced" by her... make her look bad. One could argue that she influenced the industry but only for the worse. Like it was only good when Gaga did it.

Lone Behold! Vin's here to shade Gaga!
Anyway, I think visually she did... Musically, not so much.

And Gaga probably does have something to do with it.

You mentioned about being drunk a while ago, now i believe that
Apart from a few exceptional cases i.e Britney, Ashlee Simpson lot...most female singers have always sang live.

Yes, underground artists and Cher and Grace Jones from the 70s. Had it been done by everyone else that would not have become the sole reason she became the biggest superstar in the world.
Like she was honestly doing something right.

Dont let my username fool you. They denied me when I signed up with a rihanna related username. TWICE.
|
So you used a username which is related to an artist that you evidently hate, despite there being loads of other artists you could have referenced in your username? Interesting...

Madonna didn't stop back in 2000, are you forgetting her being on a cross in 2006 and using nazi symbolism on her current tour?

Yes, I think maybe it was on ellen or some show, she said someone asked her if she sang live, and she was like well aren't you supposed to? She kind of puts on emphasis or expectation on it.

Undoubtedly, yes. She came along and injected LIFE back into the industry and made it fun again. She also made music videos an event again and her every move has become an event as well, keeping people wondering what she's going to do or wear next.
She's also the only female pop star who brought art back into mainstream while being a performance artist.
