You should be able to admit that saying Mariah isn't as creative as someone who has come under scrutiny a countless amount of times for plagiarism, stealing, and "copying" is a little odd. And saying she isn't as enchanting as a singer who fell from grace and eventually succumbed to her demons is a little unfair. Then going on to say she isn't as "influential" as Janet, was neither a little odd or a little unfair, but a blatant lie.
This leads me to believe that you're judging based entirely on how you feel about a few singles from TEOM, because it couldn't be more dead obvious that you haven't listened to her discog. In fact you're the only person on here I've ever seen say Whitney made "better" music than Mariah.
I would say the most surprising of all though, is that this is coming from someone who said RatedR, TTT (or was it GGGB?), and Loud were some of the best pop albums of the 21st century. In short, you can continue considering Madonna a legend for her unmatched creativity, considering Whitney a legend for her hard knock life, considering Janet a legend for her lengthy influence, & considering those 3 albums some of the best of the 21st century despite the fact that "there are many people out there who don't think homegirl makes good music."

Welp.
Well first of all, I never said that about those Rih albums; I said those 2 along with GGGB were 3 examples of great pop albums that happened to be released during the same decade. Then the Hive came in, got pressed, and twisted my words. But Rihanna isn't my favorite pop girl, Beyoncé is.
Anyway, like I said, I still don't consider Mariah a legend. I have NOT listened to her entire discog, but I've heard more than enough to get a feel of her as an artist, and for me, the music just isn't good enough. Yes, she's impacted the industry in a number of ways, but in my opinion, a number of those ways aren't necessarily positive. Saying Whitney made 'better' music or that Janet was more 'influential' were poor choices of words, but in the end, I'd much rather listen to a Whitney or Janet song than something by Mariah, and I also think they have each left more notable contributions to the industry.
Honest question: have you ever seen a legitimate source refer to Mariah as a legend? Because I haven't, and — not that the 'legend' race is a competition between these women, because it isn't — I've seen the others come up in discussion much more often. We don't decide this, the industry does, and as of right now, I don't think that's the general consensus.
