How to make your music sound amazing
IMPORTANT, THE AUDIO DECK IS THE MAIN THING
Okay so my DJ friend gave me some expert tips on producing back when I started a few years ago but he also gave me some tips on how to make my music sound amazing (not my produced music I mean the stuff that comes from your speakers folks)
So this is gonna be a semi-long tutorial, not really.
To get started you need iTunes. I find iTunes has the best equalizer out of every music player and it can be LOUD which we all like, obviously with the loudness war going on in music.
Once you have iTunes go View in the top left and click 'Show Equalizer', once there you should see this:
First play Heavy Metal Lover by Gaga for like 30 seconds, Well now turn it on and change it to this:
(ignore the preset name, lol) Now play Heavy Metal Lover by Lady Gaga (it's gonna be loud so turn it down a bit)
Now that's basically it, but not really, if you guys have an Audio Deck (which pretty much every computer does, I've only encountered 1 out of the 30 people I've done this with that doesn't)you can edit IT'S equalizer to look like this:
BTW, Your Audio Deck probably, and most likely will, look much different than mine, if you need help finding it just message me on here I'll be able to find it for you most likely. Mines and HD audio card, which leads me to my next little thing
BUY AND AUDIO CARD.
They aren't overly expensive, mine was 50 bucks, and it's pretty amazing.
Always get UNCOMPRESSED music, they usually come in flac files.iTunes doesn't support flac so convert them to ALAC/Wav files if need be, this is really only for audiophiles, but just so you know iTunes quality (if you buy the song from iTunes) sucks.
Now I don't know much about speakers but if you wanna get headphones, Dr. Dre sucks, don't buy them, but anything from this company:
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/home
And that's pretty much all, if you have any questions you can ask me~
(This should be stickied cause I worked hard on it )

LOL no don't mess around with the equalizer, producers & audio engineers have already used the right amount of EQ in the mixing & mastering process so it will make the music sound over-compressed.
Also humans can barely hear the difference between wav and m4a (iTunes) it's just a waste of space.

Lots of detail
I don't use digital EQ though, I use a good pair of headphones (I recommend/use Denon AH-D2000's) and a headphone amp, such as the Digizoid ZO2 (one of the best rated amps) which will sound better than any digital EQ you could set up, but that also comes with a hefty price tag (a good amp is ~$100 and up, along with good headphones begin ~$200 and up). For most people digital EQ is fine though.

I know they have, but this simply boost the power of the bass and treble making it much better, a bit over the top but you could easily move the sliders down a bit/turn the music down. And Humans CAN hear the difference between uncompressed files and compressed files, although it is slight, but you can. You just need the right equipment and good ears

I need a headphone amp tbh, but my headphones are amazing HD Pro's 280. But the 700's are so expensive.

There was a thread like this not long ago. I think those iTunes settings are pre-set under 'Perfect'.
Edit: I just checked and they're similar but not the same.

I'm amazed I'd get any negative feedback from this. I posted the iTunes only thing on tumblr and it got so many notes I was so proud
All my friends I worked on liked the new sound they got. It is bit overbearing but I like really loud music, some people don't though.

Exactly. I mean you aint gonna hear a difference if you're using iPod headphones but if you use at least decent headphones, especially NOT earbuds, you'll notice a difference.

I was considering Sennheiser but they're so ugly imo a lot of people on Head-Fi were telling me to get the Denon's so I did amazing build quality and sound quality, I love em.
And to think I used to swear by Beats thank god those things broke

I don't think it's better, I think music should be heard the way the producers want it to be heard, if they wanted more bass they would've added that in the mixing/mastering process but I guess it's a matter of opinion.
That's not always true for example I read an interview with Sandy Vee and he said that he exports the music he produces in 320kbps mp3 because you can't hear the difference between that and wav anyway.

Beats aren't bad...I guess..they're just OVERPRICED as hell. I got the HD 280's cause they're mastering headphones so it helps with my music producing

Not really, you gotta do the audio deck too in my process to get the sound I'm telling y'all about, not just the iTunes equalizer, tbh the iTunes equalizer is just a pinch of it, the audio deck is the main thing. The mid EQ's shouldn't be touched, they'll make your sound really static-y

It's never loud enough
I sometimes change back to flat tbh, sometime's it's overbearing like I said for the 50th time. The Audio Deck is the main thing though y'all ignoring it

Yes, they would be okay if they were maybe $100, just because they look nice, but at $300 they're FAR overpriced. **** build quality, only decent sound quality with overblown bass, it's just all brand.
One of the rich kids in my class was showing off his Beats all year, and people were jealous of him one time some kid was like "Beats suck, my Skullcandy's are better" and he was like "OH YEAH?! THEN HOW COME BEATS ARE $300 AND ALL THE BASKETBALL PLAYERS WEAR THEM" I was just sitting at my table like
I don't produce or anything, I'm just obsessed with having the best lol. I love music so it's important to me to use a good pair of headphones. I used my cousin's pair of iPod headphones the other day on a road trip and I couldn't believe how big of a difference it was.
