The most memorable experience I had when I went to Europe was when I was at a club one night and at the end of the night, they dropped the dance music and played Hey Jude, and the whole club broke out into a massive hold each other sing-a-long. Such a powerful song.

A lot of athletes don't attend the Opening Ceremony due to their events being held within the first few days - most notably with participants in the Rowing & Swimming events!

I loved the Rowan Atkinson bit, and the brief cameo by the queen in the Bond skit. They did get that parade of nations moving quick. That said, while some here obvioulsy liked the humor and variety of it, I doubt it will go down globally as being nearly as memorable as the spectacle of Beijing's opening. Of course, it is nearly impossible for a democratic state to put on the same sort of spectacle that a regimed like China can put on.

The bond skit was for promoting the new Movie of the 007 series "Skyfall"

It was "Wonder" by Emeli Sandé.

No it wasn't. Bond is a British institution so they wanted him represented. And that scene was a clever idea of introducing her into the stadium. The film is a coincidence. Thats like saying the grass theme was promoting the new Hobbit film. Mr Bean doesnt have a film so this commercial plug concept is losing steam..
