I told Jack! this too the other day. The fans are hyping themselves. Gaga hasn't even served the main dish yet, and we are thirsty!

Q1 is a dead period for album sales, since it follows the holiday season where everyone spends their money for gifts, money received as gifts, iTunes cards, etc.

I suppose that enough sales would keep it on top of the Billboard 200 for more than two weeks. I remember reading that radio stations do look at how well an album is doing on the charts to determine how in demand an artists' singles might be. Which is kinda how Adele got her success with RITD, I suppose. Gaga isn't a new artist though, so we'll see.

Good music will sell regardless, and it will sell throughout 2013 if it's good.

If the album sucks, it wouldn't have gone 2x platinum in December or in June.

Like it's been said, Q1 it's sort of a dead period, but she might be touring US during that season so she'll be in the place she needs to promote the most already.

And we know Gaga will probably promote the **** out of it, so I don't see how a few months will make all that much difference.

Telephone and Alejandro did fine without much promo at all, which makes my point for me.
