I mean, it's been about 5 years since the song has been released, and the whole world still knows it. You can still hear it on the radio from time to time, and who could forget the "curse" Rihanna put on the United Kingdom with this song It's undoubtedly Rihanna's biggest hit, and without it, her career just won't be the same. So tell me, IS Umbrella a classic?
In my opinion, I think it is. Obviously it's not a "BOMT, Thriller, Vogue" type of classic, but still a classic.
And maybe not Vogue... but it's definitely better than Thriller and BOMT as well.
Obviously Umbrella is better than Thriller (and slightly better than BOMT) but it certainly hasn't reached that type of status, where it's already been a decade after their release, and everyone including the young 8-year olds still dances to it.

In no way is this a classic. Many years down the line and people will forget this song really. A classic is a song that will be remembered, like Like a Prayer and Holiday. This does not fit the description
