Discussion: Are Katy Perry songs hard to sing?

I started thinking about this cause I was checking out Kelly Clarkson's cover of Wide Awake and I noticed she was having some trouble hitting that chorus, despite being arguably the best vocalist in pop music currently (in my opinion). Not trying to shade Kelly's cover but I had just seen her throw some A5s like free snacks at her show "Duets" like it was freaking 2005. My point is that Kelly's still at her peak vocally after 10 years and she still couldn't nail this song. Can it be that the vocal phrasing of Katheryn's songs are at fault for Katy getting picked on every now and then for how her hit songs sound live, because she can't reproduce that same technique live all the time? (No need to post some of her performances you thought were amazing, she is very popular so we've all seen a good share of her performances).

I've noticed she alternates between head voice and chest between words (and even between syllables of the same word, and I'm not talking about melismatic), and if we're being completely honest and non delusional we might agree it's something probably only Adele out of our faves nails live every single time. If you agree it has something to do with it, would you be here for Katheryn slightly modifying that style of singing for her live performances to work out "better"?

TL;DR Do y'all think Katy's songs are hard to sing? Leave pitch issues and arrangements out of this.

Wide Awake, Firework, Teenage Dream, as well as a few more are difficult to sing. And I'm not only saying this because she bombs them every time, they're literally just really hard to sing.

Yeah, I find that some of them are. Some are easier like California Gurls, POM, and TOTGA but even CG has very few breaks.
But Firework is a vocalist's nightmare. Wide Awake is a close second.
The bridge in E.T. is hard to sing.

^ She doesn't bomb TD. In fact it's one of her better songs vocally.

Also idk if it's just me, but it's so easy for me to go flat on her songs.

No not really. The one that I think would be the hardest would be "Firework" but other than that no.

I guess they can be, but I'm hardly the best with music to be able to point things out and explain it as well as you just did.

You need control when you sing, just because Firework is one of her widest ranged songs doesn't mean it's the hardest. It's very hard to sing any modern pop song cause of all the vocal layering.

I think of lot of Katy's song are easy to sing, in my opinion. There are just a few that would be harder, Firework obviously being one of them. I mean that pre-chorus

I think it can be hard to try and replicate her falsetto in Teenage Dream and songs like that

Definitely not. There are some songs that are more challenging than others, but if you can somewhat sing then it shouldn't be a problem.

It IS hard. Listen to the phrasing. It never stops. It demands almost everything from your voice (your control, your air, your breathing) and then after you're done singing the chorus it doesn't get easier.
