It is all about seniority. Believe it or not, but the kids today will probably say 'when I was growing up, we had Justin Bieber.'

There people who considered Mariah pop garbage, people who considered Michael noise, and it goes on. It seems embedded in us to believe we delivered the best, and anything after is bad while everything before is amazing.

Crap has always gone to the top, that will never change. The fact is our acts of the 00s have yet to become nostalgia because the generation is too young....Once they are old enough, the newer generation will suck -according to them.

Once you're older, I bet you will say how good music was when you where in your youth. No one experiences 'hey, this is a great era of music!!' Criticism wasn't invented with the arrival of 2000. All the bad will be erased, and we will remember the good - while only looking at the ****** part of younger music.

I'm not embarrassed that I like today's music, even with all the music snobs on ATRL these days.

If I'm embarrassed about anything these days it's the way my generation acts. Music really has nothing to do with it, however, rap music is at an all time low quality wise IMO.

Old music is glorified in many respects. When you look back in the day, there were people who didn't like Whitney and Madonna and other people who are considered iconic today. It's a game of "things used to be better back then," and people yearning for the simplicity and familiarity that they used to have that no longer exists.

I'm sure some sociologist has researched this extensively.

You wish you were born in the 80's because all you see is Michael, Madonna and them but don't see all the crap artists that were out then too.

In 20 years people will only remember the 3 great artists of this era of music: Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Kelly Clarkson. Everyone else will be forgotten.
